Welcome to this July edition of AnchorNews

It’s hard to believe we are at the beginning of a new financial year!

As a Team we have been working very hard to support clients. We have moved mountains to create a complete Restrictive Practices Package which goes beyond the benign templated policy and procedure by creating a package of information that addresses the new regulatory advice and legislation.  The new requirements come into effect from 1 July- again with very little transition time. To kick off we have created a complimentary training slide deck which you can download for free. At the same time it will ask you to confirm if you would like information on our Restrictive Policy and Process pack to help with your compliance to these new requirements. We have already received a number of requests and are working to get that finalised for next week. To access the training slide deck, please click here

The Package will cover the 5 defined restrictive practices, appropriate guidance via Policy and Process for each and also training resources and flowcharts to assist you and your team to meet your compliance. We pay particular attention to consent processes and also making sure your team understand the requirements for each and also the use in an emergency. Dr Irene Stein has also documented a high level summary of the new requirements in her Restrictive Practices article.

Also in this edition Paul Harris has looked to better explain the Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) Support Loan Program. Applications can be submitted from today till 30 September. If you need any assistance navigating these loan application processes then please reach out to Paul who is well placed to assist.

Britt O’Keefe continues to keep you updated on NDIS related topics please see her article on Meeting the NDIS Certification Audit Requirements. Britt works with many AE clients on reviewing NDIS compliance and also providing ad hoc advice on the more technical aspects of the program.

Ian Hamer shares some insights over repurposing a hostel style class 3 for NDIS. Ian is available to discuss this in more detail if this sparks your interest.

Finally, Ingrid Fairlie showcases the benefits of Care Huddles and Critical Conversations. We all know that effective communication in any work environment is critical. Right now all aged care organisations need to be focusing on this as a key priority – it really makes the difference between a positive experience of the resident and one that is fraught. Ingrid really sets you up for success with her outlines of the process and benefits.

On another front I had the pleasure of facilitating the Aged Care Leaders Industry Breakfast 2021. This great panel brought together leaders in construction, architecture financing and banking with a focus of following the Royal Commission and also the Morrison Government announcements for this years Budget. The link provides you full access to the entire event – enjoy.

At Anchor Excellence we are strong supporters of advocacy and the voice of the industry. We are proud of our affiliations with LASA, ACSA, Business Excellence Australia, The Australian Organisation of Quality, Australian College of Nursing and Meaningful Ageing Australia.

A special Thanks to Ilsa Hampton who asked me to contribute an article in the latest edition of their news. It is a personal insight into using Yoga to improve resilience and leadership impact. As Ilsa says building ‘spiritual muscle’  will help leaders stay the distance and build strength during periods of major change.

Finally – Hot off the press the Quality and Safety Commission have released the March 2021 Sector Performance Report. For Home Care and Residential care we still see a continuing theme around Not Mets in Clinical and personal care and High Impact / High prevalent risk. Our online training and HiRA-E program hit the spot and you should check out both .

At Anchor Excellence we work with leaders at all levels and in all different types and sizes of organisations. What is universally clear is that every leader is working above and beyond and we just want to make sure you are all looking after yourself as well! We thank you all for what you do every day.

Best for now Cynthia and the AE team.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/4″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/4″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][image_with_animation image_url=”4808″ animation=”Fade In” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/4″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”No Line”][nectar_highlighted_text color_type=”regular” style=”full_text”]
